Her birthplace was Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her birthname. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico in the family of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. The mother of two is Mexican American and is an American by the nationality. Since she was a child she's had a keen determination to be involved in athletics. Gerina was a golfer in her first game at the age of 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School for her high school education. While in highschool, Gerina won in the New Mexico golf state tournament. Also, she was a volleyball player and competed at the national level. 2003, she began her studies at the University of Texas. While in her senior years, she won each tournament she entered. In her undergraduate year, she received the Conference USA's player of the year, as well as UTEP's Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
